Sorry, Miley by Brant Hansen
For today’s post, I want to point over to someone else. Brant Hansen is a DJ on Air1 and has shared some brief but important thoughts about the whole debacle that was Miley Cyrus’ appearance at the MTV Video Music Awards. As the father of two sons, I am constantly in prayer that they would be guarded against driving off the cliff in their personal lives. Painfully, with a media-saturated culture and our own voyeuristic tendencies, we watch as teen stars grow up and willingly throw themselves off the proverbial cliff thinking they will some how fly.
Whether you are a teenager, parent, grandparent, or simply a breathing human being, please read his thoughts at Sorry, Miley. I think it is a great reminder to all of us about the cost of giving in to a culture that constantly tries to impress itself. I would simply add to his thoughts that the displays such as the MTV VMAs should not shock us any longer. We are only watching the mere progression of what has already happened. Instead, as believers, we need to more actively engage people and culture for the sake of God’s redeeming love.
